Emma joined our Wills, Probate & Estate Planning department based in our Andover office, in 2022 as a Paralegal, having qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in January 2012. She previously dealt with residential conveyancing matters and joined the firm to help fulfil her ambition of becoming a Private Client Lawyer. To facilitate the change in specialisms, Emma is studying in her spare time for CILEx Certificates in Wills & Succession Law and Probate Practice.
Emma can help clients with Probate & Estate Administration, Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Court of Protection matters, with her focus on being friendly and approachable. As she often sees people at their most vulnerable when they are dealing with one of the hardest times of their lives, Emma considers it a privilege to act for them and relieve some of the pressure they are facing.
A particular highlight in her career to date includes a visit from the Office of the Public Guardian, the body responsible for supervising Deputies. Emma was subject to an Assurance Visit in September 2019 and, following an inspection of her files and thorough interviews, the Court Visitor noted in the Visitor’s Report: "The Visitor considered that you demonstrate a genuine interest in your clients. You ensure that your clients have everything they need and you are open to any ideas which ensure that your clients have a better quality of life."
A big thank you to yourself and everyone at Parker Bullen. The ultimate professionals, but always friendly and approachable. There has never been a moment of worry with everything in your capable and reassuring hands.
Can I just say how extremely grateful I am for both yours and Gareth’s time today. You both went out of your way to help and made everything so much easier.
I’m very impressed with the way and speed with which you dealt with this, especially given the sloppy business practices of various retail institutions I am trying to deal with!
You have done a sterling job on this in the past so immediately thought of you!
Prior to joining the firm, Emma obtained a degree in Criminology before working for some time in a civilian role for the Hampshire Constabulary. Upon realising she wanted to pursue a career in the law, she joined Talbot Walker LLP in 2003 as a Legal Secretary and a year later began studying to become a Chartered Legal Executive. She progressed to Associate before leaving the firm in 2021 to pursue a career with us in Private Client law.
There are many reasons why Emma enjoys working life here. Professionally, she is proud to be part of a continually evolving firm which has such an outstanding reputation. Personally, she considers herself lucky to work in such a warm and inclusive environment; there’s no hierarchy and the Partners are friendly and approachable and, even as the firm continues to grow, it doesn’t feel “corporate” or impersonal. Emma extends her friendly and approachable nature to her colleagues as well as her clients. She is a firm believer in the power of a cup of tea and a chat if a colleague is having a bad day or struggling with something.
Outside of work, Emma is happiest when spending time with her niece and nephews, becoming engrossed in a good book or dancing...she has been taking weekly dance classes for years and can salsa, waltz and cha cha!
