From the outset of my training contract, I have experienced a significant volume of practical work. I have conducted research in anticipation of client meetings, which I have then attended. These experiences have been invaluable in developing my legal knowledge as well as my inter-personal skills.
“Since commencing my training contract, I have experienced a broad range of work. This has given me an excellent insight into how the law operates in practice.”
My first seat was in the Corporate Commercial department where I assisted on a number of transactional matters. I worked closely with one of the partners on a share purchase agreement where I was tasked specifically with the due diligence elements of the transaction.
I moved to my second seat in the Property department where I gained experience in both commercial and residential property transactions. I also assisted on a specialist matter relating to tenants’ rights of first refusal under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987.
I am currently in my third seat in the Family department. I have already attended court in relation to Financial Order, Children Act and Injunctive proceedings. This has enabled me to develop a sound understanding of the court process and dispute resolution.
I am also a member of the Salisbury Young Professionals (SYP) Group and the South Hampshire Junior Lawyers Division (SHJLD). Both groups have provided enjoyable events and good networking opportunities.
